cold nights in the highlands

now that i got ya listening let's proceed w/a healthy suspicion
of each other's motives and how much each of us cares
about our place in the universe and other such sad affairs

now that i have yr attention there's a couple of things i should probably mention
i'm not in it for the money, baby, i just want yr love well, i'll take a little money but i really want yr love

but sometimes it makes me feel dirty
pouring out my heart and i gotta start at seven thirty
sometimes i hit the mark sometimes i don't but i won't tell anybody if you won't

now most of the time i'll be lying abt  long black trains and cold nights in the Highlands
but sometimes i'll  sing something clear and true and that's when i'll be singing just for you.
